Women's rights.
In 2007 alone, 14 states considered laws that would make all abortion illegal should Roe v. Wade be overturned. Since 2001, Congress has voted to restrict abortion 44 times, and President Bush has signed five of these bills into law. Anti-choice groups and legislators are working hard and fast to criminalize abortion.

Women's privacy.
Most Americans agree that women know better than the government what is best for themselves and their families. We need to be able to make personal decisions without government interference. Women should have the freedom to make difficult personal decisions without being stigmatized and treated like criminals.

Women's doctors.
Criminalizing abortion would mean that good doctors would go to jail for providing women with quality abortion care. Doctors would be charged with felony murder and threatened with the death penalty. If quality doctors won't be there for women, who will be?

Women's lives.
Criminalizing abortion would mean that women across the country would be treated like criminals and forced to seek illegal, dangerous back-alley abortions. Criminalizing abortion will take away a woman's health and safety.

2008 is a critical year for reproductive freedom. Elected officials and policy makers will determine whether to allow women and their families to live healthy and fulfilling lives with personal freedom, safety, and dignity. It's time to make sure that women's choices are not compromised. And you can make a difference.
